Welcome to Starry Gazey Studio
We specialise in Picture Books and Surface Pattern Design with a touch of vintage charm. Our work is heavily inspired by the bold, vibrant styles of Mid Century artists such as Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle, two icons who shaped our artistic vision. Their influence can be seen in the use of bright and surprising colour palettes, whimsical shapes, and intricate patterns, all brought to life with the textured finish of dry gouache.
At Starry Gazey Studio, every design tells a story. Whether we're crafting picture books that spark the imagination or creating surface patterns for textiles and home décor, our goal is to evoke a sense of nostalgia with a modern twist. Our creations are rooted in a love for bold design, playful imagery, and the joy of childhood wonder.
How did we come up with our name? There’s something magical about gazing at the night sky reflected over water, and this feeling inspired the name Starry Gazey. But it’s also a playful nod to stargazer pie, a traditional Cornish dish with fish heads poking through the crust, as if they are watching the stars. This blend of whimsical storytelling and a vintage, nostalgic vibe is at the heart of everything we do.
We invite you to explore our world of colour, texture, and timeless charm.
